London

London

We left Glasgow on the overnight train at 11pm, the room was cramped but the beds were comfortable. We arrived in London at 6:45am the next morning, 15 minutes earlier than they had said, there are times when running late is ok.

We left our bags at the Royal Eagle Hotel in Paddington and then caught the subway back into the city for some general touristy stuff. We got to hear and see Big Ben chime the hour, we took a river cruise on the Thames and took a bunch of pictures around the place, well I didn't as my phone ad gone flat and my camera was in my suitcase  back at the hotel. I blame the train for arriving early for that. Had i had that extra 15minutes I would have been more switched on :oP.

We returned to the Hotel for a freshen up and recharge some phone batteries  and then headed to the London Bridge to do the London Bridge Dungeon  Tour. It was a good experience, not scary but well acted. After this we decided to do the Jack the Ripper tour. We met outside Aldgate station and then followed an enthusiastic tour guide around to all the locations known to the Ripper case. For 10 pounds it was a good tour, although it was cold, dark and long., lots of walking.

Back to the Hotel for a good night sleep, or so I had hoped but it was a cold night in a bed that felt like a ton of bricks, at one point I awoke to my whole side cramped up. Lucky it was only one night.

In the morning, after checking out we parted ways at the train stations. Ed and Diane went to do some more site seeing before their honeymoon flights that night. Trav and Meg were off to meet their train to Paris and I needed to find the Wombat Hostel, ready to start my tour the next morning.

I got off at the wrong station, not a fun thing when you are carting around two suitcases, to make things worse, I walked 10 minutes in the opposite direction before realizing my error.
I made it to the Hostel around 1pm, too early to check in but I was allowed to leave my bags. So now I was off to the famous Oxford street for some shopping. I picked up two new jumpers and a pair of trousers. The prices were very good, even with the currency difference.

I made it back to the Hostel after 5 and pretty much went straight to bed. Ready to head to Paris in the morning.
